用于SoC電源噪聲測(cè)量的低溫漂VCO

摘要: 提出了適用于片上系統(tǒng)(SoC)電源噪聲測(cè)量的帶兩級(jí)溫度補(bǔ)償?shù)幕诃h(huán)路壓控振蕩器(ring VCO)的量化器。通過粗略和精細(xì)兩級(jí)溫度補(bǔ)償電路得到更低溫漂的ring VCO。在粗略補(bǔ)償一級(jí)中,將正比于溫(PTAT)的電流注入尾限流管控制的ring VCO中,用來(lái)補(bǔ)償VCO中較大的溫度系數(shù);在精細(xì)補(bǔ)償一級(jí)中,用一個(gè)VCO復(fù)制電路來(lái)感知溫度的變化,并將感知到的溫度變化信息傳遞給量化器中的VCO,從而進(jìn)一步自適應(yīng)調(diào)整VCO量化器的振蕩頻率?;?0 nm工藝,設(shè)計(jì)一款工作在1.1 V電源電壓下的兩級(jí)溫度補(bǔ)償ring VCO,并對(duì)其進(jìn)行了電路仿真,其輸出信號(hào)的振蕩頻率約為4.3 GHz,在-40 ℃~125 ℃的溫度變化范圍內(nèi),實(shí)現(xiàn)了15.5 ppm/℃的溫漂值。

Abstract: This paper presents a two-stage temperature compensated ring VCO-based quantizer for on-chip power supply noise measurement. To achieve a lower temperature coefficient, the coarse and fine temperature compensated stages are both exploited. In the coarse stage, a proportional-to-absolute-temperature(PTAT) current injects in the current starved ring VCO to compensate the large part of the temperature coefficient of the VCO, and as the fine compensated stage, a replica VCO is employed to sense temperature variation and further adjust the oscillation frequency of the VCO adaptively. The ring VCO-based quantizer is operated at a 1.1 V supply. The simulation results show the output frequency of the VCO is 4.3 GHz, and it achieves a low temperature sensitivity of 15.5 ppm/℃ over the range from -40 ℃ to 125 ℃ with the two-stage temperature compensation.

0 引言

    在現(xiàn)代片上系統(tǒng)(SoC)中,電源電壓噪聲(PSN)問題變得越來(lái)越嚴(yán)重,尤其是當(dāng)工藝尺寸不斷減小,電源電壓不斷下降時(shí),甚至?xí)鹗瓜到y(tǒng)功能出錯(cuò)的時(shí)序問題[1-6]。為了更好地對(duì)芯片進(jìn)行設(shè)計(jì)、測(cè)試和調(diào)試,需要有效且準(zhǔn)確地診斷PSN相關(guān)的問題,并對(duì)電源網(wǎng)絡(luò)進(jìn)行建模[12-15]。

    一種在片上測(cè)量電源中具有周期平穩(wěn)特性的寬帶噪聲的方法是用兩個(gè)低速模數(shù)轉(zhuǎn)換器(ADC)來(lái)測(cè)量噪聲自相關(guān)函數(shù),再對(duì)自相關(guān)函數(shù)進(jìn)行傅里葉變化,得到的頻譜就是噪聲的功率譜[4,11]。因?yàn)殡娫瓷系脑肼曇淮蟛糠质桥c系統(tǒng)的時(shí)鐘周期相關(guān)的,具有周期平穩(wěn)特性,所以對(duì)周期平穩(wěn)特性噪聲測(cè)量是很有意義的。低速ADC中的量化器可以采用基于環(huán)形壓控振蕩器(ring VCO)的結(jié)構(gòu),這種結(jié)構(gòu)使得測(cè)量帶寬高達(dá)20 GHz[5-6],滿足對(duì)片上高頻噪聲的測(cè)量需求。
