The causes, risks and governance of personal information dissemination in online public opinion

Abstract: The phenomenon of dissemination of personal information in online public opinion has become more common and has certain impacts on individuals and social order. In the modern society where the digitalization process is deepening, it is of great significance to realize the effective governance of this phenomenon.The reasons for the wide dissemination of personal information in online public opinion are the curiosity of the public about personal information, the leading of public opinion through the exposure of personal information, and the improper use of algorithmic techniques.The dissemination of personal information in online public opinion can lead to difficulties in effectively safeguarding personal information security and human dignity, as well as disrupting online public order, blurring the focus of public opinion and accelerating the trend of disordered technology use. The governance of personal information dissemination in online public opinion requires reshaping the value orientation of personal information protection in online public opinion, improving risk prevention measures beforehand, urging platforms to protect personal information security during the process and realizing legal measures after the process, so as to achieve multifaceted and synergistic governance.
