The Atmel AT86RF232 is a low-power 2.4GHz radio transceiver designed for consumer ZigBee/IEEE 802.15.4, RF4CE, 6LoWPAN, and 2.4GHz ISM band applications. The radio transceiver is a true SPI-to-antenna solution. All RF-critical components except the antenna, crystal and de-coupling capacitors are integrated on-chip. Therefore, the AT86RF232 is particularly suitable for applications like:

REB232ED-EK評(píng)估板

The Atmel REB232ED-EK demonstrates the unique performance and feature set of the Atmel® 2.4GHz radio transceiver AT86RF232 combined with the leading edge Atmel ATxmega256A3 microcontroller.

AT86RF232 is a feature-optimized wireless transceiver for consumer applications in the unlicensed 2.4GHz ISM band. It is ideal for, low complexity, peer-to-peer wireless applications like remote controls, health and fitness devices, toys, game controllers, and others. Radio transceiver features like hardware accelerators for IEEE 802.15.4 signal processing or advanced features like AES and antenna diversity can easily be evaluated with the REB232ED-EK kit. In addition it serves as a reference design for derived product developments.

This manual describes the REB232ED radio extender board supporting antenna diversity in combination with the Atmel AT86RF232 radio transceiver. Detailed information is given in the individual sections about the board functionality, the board interfaces, and the board design.

The REB232ED connects directly to the REB controller base board (REB-CBB), or can be used as an RF interface in combination with one of the Atmel microcontroller development platforms. The REB232ED together with a microcontroller forms a fully functional wireless node.
